Where do Steim coffee beans come from?
Elixir of Zeus: A pure robusta-based coffee sourced solely from the Western Ghats mountain range in the biodiverse Kerala region of India. We source from a collection of family-owned farms that prioritize care, resulting in refined and fully developed flavors.
Flame of Prometheus: This fusion combines Indian robusta cherries with Tanzania peaberries cultivated on the slopes surrounding Mount Kilimanjaro.
Heaven of Atlas: A unique blend of beans harvested from Central and South America's coffee-rich countries, enriched by a small dose of India robusta.
How are Steim coffee beans roasted?
We freshly roast all our coffee to order, ensuring peak freshness and flavor. Upon receiving your order, your beans are roasted within 1-2 business days using 10kg drum roasters. Our small-batch roasting method guarantees a consistent flavor profile within and across each batch. After roasting, we package and dispatch your order, arriving at your door with optimal freshness.
What are the caffeine levels in Steim coffees?
Caffeine levels in coffee vary widely and are influenced by factors such as bean type and origin, brewing method, grind, and more. Elixir of Zeus boasts the highest caffeine content among our offerings due to its pure robusta composition. Flame of Prometheus follows, with a roughly half-half mix of robusta and arabica, while Heaven of Atlas contains the least caffeine, reflecting a modest spark of robusta within a primarily arabica blend. Generally, the more robusta in a blend, the higher the caffeine level.
How should I store my Steim coffee for the best flavor?
Proper storage is crucial to maintain the flavor and freshness of your Steim coffee, as it's sensitive to moisture, odors, light, and heat. You can shield your coffee from these elements and preserve peak quality through the following practices:
- Air-tight container: Use an opaque, air-tight container to protect against light and air.
- Cool, dark place: Store your coffee container in a cool, dark location to avoid light and heat exposure. A basement pantry or cantina/cold room are great options.
- Freeze, don't refrigerate: In the absence of an air-tight container, freezing your beans is a great choice to maintain quality. Refrigeration should only be considered as a last resort as the light, humidity, and surrounding scents of a fridge plague coffee's freshness.
