Sustainable operations are non-negotiable at Steim. They are integral in preserving the environment and ensuring our coffee's longevity and quality. We proudly champion sustainability through three essential practices, manifesting our belief that great coffee should not come at the Earth's expense.
#1 - Our Bags
Our commitment to the environment starts with fully recyclable coffee bags and extends to all our shipping and packaging materials designed for curbside recycling. This initiative is a convenience to our community but also a promise to minimize the ecological footprint throughout our supply chain. Every Steim package, regardless of type or size, offers customers a guilt-free coffee experience.
#2 - Our Farms
Nested within the biodiverse Western Ghats of India, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, our robusta cherries thrive on family-run farms in the Kerala region. We chose these small-scale farmers for their unwavering devotion to certified organic farming and producing coffee that prioritizes quality over quantity. This partnership reinforces our dedication to excellence and sustainability. Together, we foster a symbiotic relationship that nurtures the land, supports farming communities, and delights our coffee connoisseurs.
#3 - Our Support
Our sustainability ethos extends beyond the supply chain, embodying our promise to give back. Steim is a proud member and partner of World Coffee Research (WCR), a non-profit organization consisting of 170+ member companies worldwide. Through membership in World Coffee Research, we support science-based innovation for coffee agriculture.
WCR's work spans several critical areas. These include breeding coffee plants for greater yields, climate resilience, disease and pest resistance, genetic diversity, and overall elevation of coffee quality. Through membership in World Coffee Research, we're investing in the future of coffee, from its flavor to the livelihoods of the communities that grow it.
